Meet Orange County Intellectual Property Lawyer Paul Backofen
Paul J. Backofen specializes in patent prosecution and client counseling. Mr. Backofen has worked with clients to obtain patent protection in the fields of digital cinema, high-technology military electronics, networks, digital and analog electronics, communication systems, IC manufacture and design, medical devices, microturbines, air bearings, animation techniques, and pre-fabricated wall sections for building construction.
His broad technical experience coupled with his business experience provides clients a valuable perspective for identifying, capturing, protecting and exploiting their intellectual property. Mr. Backofen counsels industry leading organizations how to develop and run formal IP management programs.
Prior to joining Crockett & Crockett, Mr. Backofen was associated with the Intellectual Property department of Irell & Manella LLP and the intellectual property firm of Brunell & Associates. In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Backofen began his technical career as an electrical engineer for NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory doing a range of work from designing hardware and communication links to operating and testing spacecraft.
While at Southwestern University School of Law, Paul participated in the Interscholastic Trial Advocacy program, preparing and trying product liability cases.
