Crockett & Crockett managing partner Susan Crockett has joined the board of the Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAPC) in Orange County, where she has been involved for several years.
CAPC is the country's leading not-for-profit organization focused exclusively on child abuse prevention. Its vision is valuing every child's right to grow up in a safe, nurturing home, and the organization serves at-risk families and children in an effort to prevent child abuse and break its generational cycle. It has a strong record of accomplishment in providing direct services that increase parental education and support and strengthen family bonds. Since its inception in 1983, it has reached over 340,000 children and parents.
Susan Crockett practices in trademark infringement and validity issues, patent infringement litigation and patent prosecution for high tech companies. Before her career as an intellectual property lawyer, she worked as an engineer in areas including hardware and software design, integration and technical marketing.
Beginning her career at General Dynamics, she designed automatic test equipment for the Cruise Missile Program and led teams of engineers who designed and integrated flight software for the Atlas Centaur rocket system, which launched government and telecommunication satellites. She later moved to Teledyne Systems Company, where she worked in product development and created and executed computer system marketing strategies.
Susan has worked with CAPC informally, most notably running its annual Ragnar SoCal relay team. The Ragnar SoCal is a 200-mile race from Huntington Beach to San Diego which provides scholarships and donations to the nonprofits like CAPC.
"Sue has been such an outstanding and enthusiastic supporter of child abuse prevention over the years - supporting our events, raising awareness, and volunteering her time," says CAPC executive director Scott Trotter. "We are excited to have her leadership and commitment to bring positive change on our Board."
Susan lives in Mission Viejo, California, with husband and fellow intellectual property attorney David Crockett and their two sons.
